The School of Optometry and Vision Sciences (SOVS) at the University of Cape Coast has successfully held its maiden White Coat Ceremony, robing 55 Level 400 students as they officially transition into their clinical training phase in pursuit of becoming certified eye care professionals. The event took place at the School of Graduate Studies Auditorium on the 11th of July 2025.
Mr. David Nii Commey Ankrah, a Level 100 student at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Cape Coast (UCC), has been adjudged the Best Performing Candidate in West Africa for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
A proud alumnus of Hope College, Gomoa Fetteh, Mr. Ankrah emerged as the overall top performer in the sub-region in the examination administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) has held its 2nd White Coat ceremony to mark the transition of 99 Pharmacy students into the clinical stage of their training. The White Coat ceremony is an integral part of Pharmacy education, emphasising the significance of the coat as the professional identity of Pharmacists and establishing defined expectations and responsibilities for students while still in training.
The Founding Dean of the School of Optometry and Vision Science (SOVS), Prof. Stephen Ocansey, has received the Vice-Chancellor of Bindura University of Science and Education (BUSE), Zimbabwe, Professor Eddie Mwenje, and his accompanying delegation to the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
The visit was to find ways of strengthening the existing collaboration and enhancement of academic and clinical engagements between the two institutions.

The ceremony, held at UCC NEC auditorium brought together faculty, students, families, and dignitaries to honor the hard work and dedication of the graduates.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to exceptional students who distinguished themselves in various fields of academic and professional excellence.
