Strengthening Global Academic Partnerships Between CoHAS, UCC and West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, Germany

Body

On Tuesday, 22 September, Prof. Dr. rer. pol. René Schubert and Prof. Dr. PH Dominik Ose from the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, Germany, were received by Prof. Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah, the Provost at the College of Health and Allied Sciences (CoHAS), University of Cape Coast.

The visit, coordinated by Prof. Nancy I. Ebu Enyan of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, provided an important opportunity to explore how to deepen collaboration between our institutions. Discussions focused on opportunities for staff and student exchanges, collaborative academic and research activities, and the potential development of joint degree programmes.

Two UCC students who had spent six months in Germany as part of the existing collaboration were welcome back to campus. The students received their transcripts at the provost's office. Their experiences and testimony are a wonderful reminder that international partnerships become truly meaningful when they translate into real opportunities for students and staff to learn, grow and experience different academic and cultural environments.

The delegation also engaged with the management of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Cape Coast, further broadening discussions around opportunities for collaboration in health professional education, training and practice.

We look forward to taking the next steps together
