As part of Prof. Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah ongoing engagement with stakeholders across the College, the Provost of the College of Health and Allied Sciences (CoHAS), Prof. Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah, has held discussions with the Schools of Public Health, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Optometry and Vision Science.

The engagements provided an opportunity for the Deans to share the current state of their respective Schools, including their achievements, challenges, priorities, and immediate needs. The presentations also gave the Provost a clearer understanding of the issues requiring attention across the Schools.

Prof. Obiri-Yeboah subsequently shared her vision for the College and encouraged the Schools to take a more proactive approach to growth and development. She emphasised that progress should not always have to wait for improved University resources, but should also be driven by initiative, collaboration, innovation, and the effective use of available opportunities.

Her vision is to position CoHAS as a centre of excellence in health professional education and transdisciplinary health research with global impact. As part of this vision, she outlined three to four key strategic pillars for each School, which will guide their focus over the next three years.

A key part of the engagements was the open forum, which allowed the Deans and School leadership to openly discuss issues arising from their presentations. Each School highlighted urgent needs and challenges, and the Provost engaged with them on possible ways forward. Next steps and action points were agreed upon to ensure that the discussions lead to practical outcomes.

The meetings concluded with a clear direction for implementation, reflecting the Provost's commitment to transparency, accountability, collaboration, and the timely advancement of the College. Members of the various Schools expressed their commitment to working together towards the shared vision for CoHAS.

The Provost will continue her stakeholder engagements in the week ahead as she works with the Schools and other stakeholders to further shape the strategic direction of the College
