The College of Health and Allied Sciences (CoHAS), University of Cape Coast, officially ushered in a new chapter of leadership on 1st August 2026 with the formal handing-over ceremony from the outgoing Provost, Professor Martins Ekor, to the incoming Provost, Professor Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah.

The meeting, held in an atmosphere of appreciation, reflection, and optimism, was attended by the Deans of the various schools, College Registrars, senior faculty members and administrative staff. The gathering celebrated Professor Ekor's distinguished leadership while welcoming Professor Obiri-Yeboah to steer the affairs of the College into its next phase of growth.

In his farewell remarks, Professor Martins Ekor expressed gratitude to the University Management, faculty, staff, and students for their unwavering support throughout his tenure. Reflecting on the progress made during his administration, he acknowledged the collective commitment that enabled the College to strengthen its academic programmes, research output, and healthcare partnerships.

Professor Ekor congratulated Professor Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah on her appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to build on the achievements of the College. He wished his successor a successful and fulfilling tenure, assuring her of his continued support whenever needed.

"Leadership is a shared responsibility, and I am confident that the College will continue to thrive under Professor Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah's guidance. I wish her wisdom, strength, and every success as she assumes this important responsibility," Professor Ekor remarked.

Receiving the documents and instruments of office, Professor Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah expressed her appreciation and pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to advance the College's vision by creating the culture of academic excellence, innovation, quality healthcare education, impactful research, and community engagement.

She further emphasized her goal, the importance of teamwork, inclusiveness, and strategic partnerships in positioning the College of Health and Allied Sciences as a leading centre of excellence in health education and research, both nationally and internationally.

The Deans of the constituent schools joined the meeting in demonstrating their support for the leadership transition and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the new Provost to promote the College's strategic goals. Their presence underscored the spirit of unity and shared responsibility that continues to characterise the College.

The official handing-over of documents and institutional responsibilities was finally which symbolised not only the seamless transfer of leadership but also the College's commitment to continuity, good governance, and institutional excellence.

The University of Cape Coast also congratulates Professor Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah on her appointment as Provost of the College of Health and Allied Sciences and expresses its profound appreciation to Professor Martins Ekor for his dedicated and invaluable service to the College and the University.
