Provost's Welcome Message

I am delighted to welcome you to the Office of the Provost of the University of Cape Coast College of Health and Allied Sciences (CoHAS).
CoHAS is presently made up of three schools, with nationally recognized programmes, a distinguished faculty, two affiliated Teaching Hospitals, (the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and Effia Nkwanta Teaching Hospital at Sekondi), and other locations that offer countless resources. CoHAS provides students with a rich educational experience that is second to none.
As provost and chief academic officer of CoHAS, I am responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership and management for the Academic Affairs of the college, which includes the Schools of Medical Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Allied Health Sciences.
The College of Health and Allied Sciences offers rigorous curricula grounded in the sciences and connected to the healthcare professions, therefore addressing contemporary issues. Our curricula are built on our commitments to interdisciplinary inquiry, international understanding, interactive teaching, research and creative endeavours, practical application, and social responsibility towards all communities.

Our community outreach activities based on these commitments - such as elective placement programmes in other hospitals (and facilities) within the country as well as internationally, Community-Based Experience and Service (COBES) postings, and opportunities to conduct research with faculty - allow students to craft unique and personalized educational experiences. With COBES sites as their extended "classrooms" without walls, our students are able to take advantage of the vast opportunities offered by the pristine rural environment to be innovative and therefore impact the communities within which they work they work positively, thus helping to improve the lifestyles and living conditions of the residents.
As provost, I also work closely with other divisions of the university such as administration and finance, and advancement ( fundraising and alumni relations) to ensure the close association of these divisions with academic programs and students.

In line with our motto of "equipping health professionals of the future," we are especially dedicated to supporting achievement in health professions education at the College, but also we share the vision of UCC, which is "to be a college that is well positioned, with an international acclaim". We promoteand encourage relationships of lasting consequence between students and the people who teach and advise them. We also offer interdisciplinary education and academic mentoring.
We support the mission of the University of Cape Coast by encouraging excellence and innovation in teaching, research/scholarship, student development and community engagement. We strive to prepare students for a lifetime of professional and community contributions in an increasingly interdependent and culturally diverse world.
